I'm going to look at a boat on Saturday, but I'm not sure what to look for on a boat this size.
I'm used to tinneys, small I/O, runnabouts and speedboats. 18' and under pretty much.
I'm experienced with mercruisers, OMC stringers and cobras but I don't recognize the outdrive on this boat...

It,s a 1984 and this is all the add reads.

"26 foot bayliner with a dual axle trailer the boat needs the master switch changed other than that boat runs great"

I have no idea what the last pic is...

The outdrive looks like a Volvo to me...

The last pic appears to be of the aft cabin (located under the cockpit sole) you can see the entry to it in the first pic. Appears to be a good amount of trim removed and laying on the helm along with tools scattered about. This would get my suspicions up.

Re: 26' bayliner

Ok, thanks for the answers everyone.
The other thing I was wondering if there anything that can screw up for the fresh water/grey water holding tanks.
There's no mention, but I imagine a boat this size must have a head?
I know RV's a bit but a big zero when it comes to these systems on boats.
Is there anything in particular that can screw up and be costly that I should watch for?
Also, are the trim tabs able to compensate for the lack of a trim on that volvo.

Looks like a Saratoga (model name), which I believe was a 25'.

Number one thing I believe is Bayliners of that vintage (doubt it's a 1984) actually had thick hull lay ups but would suffer wood rot assuming they got wet below decks. Wood core in the stringers, transom, decks etc will be the biggest concern. The motor and drive is probably old but may be in fair shape.

That is the mid cabin under the helm in the last photo.
