I have a 26" Pro Sport ProKat on a tandem axle trailer. Last time the rig was in the trailer shop, they noticed the equalizer was tilted up towards the front hence more weight on front axle. I had a 4" rise ball mount with an Avalanche tow vehicle. Trailer looked fairly level, but they suggested I needed to raise the tongue, hence an 8" rise currently. This helps the tilt in the equalizer a little, "tongue height to equalizer level" is the same with or without boat on trailer, when I crank up the front trailer jack to level off the equalizer, I am approximately 28" - 30" off the ground, seems excessive to me. Can't move axles forward or back as the leaf spring brackets are welded to trailer frame.

When I recently bought the 8" rise 10,000 lb ball mount the person at trailer shop stated I would lose some degree of "efficiency" with that rise, didn't quite understand what that meant.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Guess you shoulda asked that person what they meant....
Personally I'd write it off as words of a dipchit.

Btw tilted equalizers do not put more weight on one axle than the other. As long as the equalizer doesn't max out and run out of travel the weight in the axles will still be equal.

Raising and lowering the tongue by looking only at the equalizers is a mistake.

The trailer frame needs to be level.... If the frame is level and the equalizers are not then look at tires and springs to find the cause.
