Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. I have a 1993 Chris Craft Contender wih twin 5.0 Cobras. I just purchased the boat (it was taken by an engine replacement company that rebuilt the engines but when th owner was unable to pay the mechanic got title and I purchased it from him. I had my mechanic go over everything and the moters purr like kittens; however; when I first took it out one or the other engines would surge at idle and sometime cut out. I was wondering if the three year gas that is in it could cause these problems and if so , what I should do. Do I just put some Stabil in it and use it up or is that dangerous. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

3 yr old fuel is definitly varnishing things up. Suck all the gas out of the tank and replace all fuel filters. May even need to pull carbs and rebuild. But I would drain tank, replace filters, put in fresh gas and run see what happens.

Ayuh,... Basically,.. You've got to Clean the Fuel System, from the Tank to the motor,..
Whatever the induction system...

I'd take a sample from the Tank,...If it Smells like gasoline,...
It probably still Is...
Larger volumes age slower...
