Hi There,

I just bought a 26 pitch high five prop used off of e-bay, though I have not recieved it yet. I was looking at the Mercury website, and they list the steepest pitch high five they make as a 25P. Does anyone know when they stopped making the 26P? Does anyone know why?

Thanks, Chris

Re: 26P High Five question

I would say that a 26" is a tall pitch for most boat/engine combos. If you can turn a 26" you are most likely running in the 70+ mph range. If you are looking for speed, that is not the prop to give you speed. A Tempest Plus (3 blade) or Trophy
(4 blade)Merc prop is way ahead of a High Five. There are a lot of better props for performance, I just mentioned some of the Merc props. Anytime you talk about props, mention boat, engine, top rpm, and GPS speed.
Backfire ;)

Re: 26P High Five question

Thanks Backfire,

I just bought a 1993 Dynatrak 201SS Fish and ski. This is a 20 runabout/bass combo, and the hull is a little more on the runabout side, heavier than a bassboat. I have a 200 Merc OB. The prop this came with is a 23P Highfive. The reason I am changing props is that I can easily over-rev the engine with the 23P, about 6200RPM at about 55MPH, with 1 person, full fuel. I would like to of course be below 5500RPM at full throttle. I still may pull folks for watersports, so the highfive still appeals to me because of its better grip out of the whole. Top speed doesn't really matter to me that much, I just want to get below the max recomended RPM range. I came across a 26P Highfive on e-bay, but after purchasing it I noticed on the merc site that they don't make a 26P Highfive anymore, do you know why? Is there some performance problem with it? Thanks, Chris

Re: 26P High Five question

Oh, One more thing, using the merc prop calculator this 26P should take me to about 65MPH at about 5500RPM, which seems about right for a boat this size. What do you think?

Remember, lugging a two stroke is sure death for it. Keep those revs up.

c/6
Hooty
