I have an opportunity to purchase the above boat. It has twin 305 w alpha drives. Clean but hasn't run in 4 years. 150 hours fresh water use only. New trailer triple axle. Any feedback? Guy wants 20 k for it. Seems alot to me. I have heard of problems with Thompson boats and the 305 is weak. Advice?

That boat was made in my home town-St. Charles, MI.

The quality was avaerage to above average.

Twin 305's in a 27 would NOT be weak. If they have 2V carbs, a 4 V carb conversion is easy.

Ayuh,.......

I've always thought of the Thompsons to be a Quality Hull,........

And,......
The 305 is a SBC,.... Maybe not the Biggest,.. But How can you go Wrong with a SBC,..???......

Well, you know I read the article when I was first interested in the boat and thought for this guy to write so much about a boat which included many major faults, I thought this guy hates Thompsons or this particular boat needs to be chainsawed. But after reading several other articals, he gives me the idea that he is openminded and tries to portrait the manufacturer and or the specific boat as accurately as possible. Think my gut is telling me not.......Thanks all for your advise.
