270 lower and 280 lower Interchangeable??

I have a 72 Glastron with a 302 and a 270 outdrive i was wondering if i could just switch out the lower unit and put a 280 lower on it instead. I hate how the water sprays up off the 270 exhaust Tab that and the 280 i think looks alot better. Thanks For the info

the lowers are all the same for all the 200 models. You could even put a duo prop on there. I found that the 290 lowers don't wander as much when moving slow.

You'll want to make sure the lower has the correct gear ratio. 1.61 for the V8.

Are you really changing the lower because of the way it looks? Seems a bit superficial.

You also need to reshim when installing the new lower.
