I just put new bellows on my 270 outdrive.Im putting the upper unit back on and I noticed a larger diameter, thinner shim that is damaged.I guess what I am wondering is how many shims are there between the upper and middle units?
I am replacing the bellows on my aq125a/270 outdrive.I was told not to loose the shims that are in the upper unit. Are there only two shims in between the upper and middle unit?
Thanks. The shim is from the upper unit number 42 on the exploded view.I must have damaged when I was trying to get the upper off.I was using a flat screw driver to separate and probably went in a little to deep. What happens if I run without it?

Can you flatten it out or cut off the bad spot...Either way, my answer still stands, measure it and order a new one if you must. Running without it is not an option imo. Do it right.
How much is left? two inches out of how many? I guess if I was going to use it that way, I would cut it again and put equal pieces on each side, so there isn't an area with a large gap.
