270 penta outdrive. wont lock....

84 bayliner aq125a with a 270.. outdive will not lock down and bounces like crazy in reverse.. is there a way to manually lock it down until i have the funds to fix it?

Wally, this is the 5th thread you've started on the same topic, it gets confusing (and frustrating) for people who want to help. Just reply to the one thread if you need more info etc.<br /><br />f-inscreenname answered this question on one of your previous threads - remove tilt motor and use a flat blade screwdriver to wind the rod all the way up, this will activate the reverse lock.<br /><br />Aldo

sorry, still learning how this works..dont mean to jump in the pool and get everyone wet...excuse me if i frustrated you.. i'll reply to one thread from now on for the same topic. thanks for all your help.

No problem wally, repairing boats (especially VP) can be frustrating sometimes. The 270/280 are getting old now but built well. <br /><br />I mentioned a manual previously, it will give you good 'exploded' views of you outdrive, including the tilt system. Makes life a lot easier when it comes time to tear it down.<br /><br />Good luck and keep us posted of progress.<br /><br />Aldo
