I have an 86 Bayliner with a 275 outdrive on it - standard 4 banger Volvo AQ-131.

I was try ing to grease the outdrive and the grease fitting broke off.
Ordered a new one, got the old one out easy since it was broken -

But I've spent about 6 hours total trying to get the other one in while the outdrive is IN the boat.

I'm not sure at this point it's possible because of the fiberglass and the steering bracket in the way.

Anyone got any experience with this??

Where is the problem?

You can't get it in the hole? It won't screw down? You can't tighten it?

I have the same engine/ drive combo. looking at mine im not sure of the problem.

Yeah the fitting is too tall to slide under the steering bracket, and even if I move that, the transom fiberglass is like a roof over the hole, so I can't get it to start threading.......1/64th of an inch more and it might fit!!

the t h reads are about 1/3rd of an inch long so if you look over top of your fit ting you'll see what lo oks like 1/3rd of an inch of clearance, but it's a tight spot in there!!
