My motor backfires when it is first started. After it warms up a bit it will then run fairly well.
Why does it backfire and how do I repair this. I am not a mechanic.

That's called sneezing and is caused by to lean a fuel/air mixture. It's real hard on reeds.

c/6

Hooty

Does it sound like a firecracker or just a cough? Going away when warm sounds like it is coughing.

Backfires are generally caused by electrical issues. They can be cause by mixtures but my money says you will not fix it by tweaking the mixture. If it is coughing, then mixture is probably the culprit.

If that 28 is an old one it will likely be traced to a bad condenser. Easy to replace and cheap to buy.

Why do you post this question again, 3Putt? Did you do as suggested on your first post? What result did you get?

Let us know, and do not start a third thread.
