28 Johnson spl wiring harness

I recently moved the steering console about 5-6' away from the stern. I went from 10-14' controls and I am wondering if there is an extension that has both a male/female end to allow me the extra length withou taking apart the control box. Any help appreciated.

Not sure what the harness looks like but this might work or give you an idea on where to look.

That is for motors 97 and newer.---The budget way is to cut the harness and extend the wires-----Black to black / red to red etc etc.

The red plug OMC harness extensions are still available from your local OMC/BRP dealer
Part numbers are as follows:

IMO, a red plug extension could be good to have. If it fits, one in that price range doesn't seem too bad -- available for future use, or can sell. I would get the longer one, if going that route (obviously may need to anyway, if the shorter one wouldn't work) -- but thinking a 10' extension could be useful. Maybe other listers might see a technical reason to avoid the extra length (maybe excess length).
