280 Transom Plate cracks by exhaust yoke bolts..

Hi, does anyone have an idea how these cracks occurred?

I circled them on the pics taken from both outside and inside the boat...

...and what's the fix....welding?

My buddy at a marine shop said just to get new o rings and use a liberal dose of 3M 4200 and see if that takes care of it.

Thoughts?

No welding them as far as i know. The only thing I know of that would do that would be the motor sitting on the Y pipe.
You have it apart now. I would replace it. Think about if the 3M don't work on your first ride...........
Pick one up on ePay and be done with it. It's a lot cheaper now then it would be after it's all back together.
