the bracket off the back of the carb where the circuit breaker and starter soleniod are mounted...

on the 2bbl bracket is obviously different than the 4bbl.

will a 4 bbl work with the edelbrock carb and intake or will i need to fab something up?

Heres a pic...

I don't want to buy the merc 4 bbl bracket and it not work with the edelbrock setup...

Re: 2bbl to edelbrock 4bbl

the 4.3 lx mercruiser came with a weber 4bbl carb and the bracket will work for your edelbrock

edelbrock = weber = carter, they are all the same

Re: 2bbl to edelbrock 4bbl

my original motor (that i'm currently replacing due to cracked block)
had a 2bbl...

I'm upgrading to the 4bbl during this build and have ran into this bracket issue...

so my solution is get the 4bbl bracket from merc?

Re: 2bbl to edelbrock 4bbl

cool...

Thanks...

I'm also needing to locate a flame arrestor...

edelbrock, weber, rochester all the same...

so any 4bbl flame arrestor will fit fine?

sorry for the silly questions, I source alot of my parts online and like to have the knowledge before I order.

Thanks again.

Yes ,all 4bbl spark arrestors fit exept some from the 60s from carter AFB carbs. However not all spark arrestors are created equal, some have very poor air flow , look for one with a radiused entry to the carb, at least 8 in diameter and at least 3 in high in the baffels. Better yet get a K&N filter with a USCG aproval

I think I'm prolly just going to make one...
Probably the easiest and definately the most affordable.

Thanks also for the heads up on the flame arrestor...

Re: 2bbl to edelbrock 4bbl

so I've got the motor in and the new bracket made....
I'm having a throttle cable issue. There are two connection on the throttle cable end. One goes to the throttle linkage on the carb and the other goes to the static throttle cable bracket. Since the 4bbl carb is bigger, the distance has changed and there is not enough adjustment to make this work. Do I need a new throttle cable, or can I shorten the bracket to bring the static mount closer to the carbs throttle linkage?
Here's a pic.

Ayuh,... The cables are all the same,...
You need to find, or build a new bracket...
