2HP Elgin

I was just given an old 2hp Elgin and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some info? Model#571-58241, Serial # 241-3991. I am missing the gas tank and pull cord but the over-all mechanical condition seems good. <br /><br />Thanks

Hi Newf1<br /> Your motor is a 1959 model. Elgin is a Sears brand name. Your motor was made by West Bend, as the 571 in the model# notes. You will have to scrounge parts used, tank,etc. You can still obtain points and other comsumable parts new. check your local library for a copy of a dated generic outboard motor repair manual. Probably have to ask in the reference section. You would be able to use the same info as for West Bend.
