Ive got an 86 17ft Chris Craft Bowrider which is an awesome boat. Ive replaced a lot of what commonly goes wrong(Gimbal today, water pump twice:redface:, etc..) Ive rebuilt the carb and have never gotten it to run rite. On the water, I can only get the boat up to about 2000rpm, any more throttle and the boat dies(no sputter at all, just dies unless I pull the throttle back and keep on cruisin at 2K.I have recently figured out why tho, the carb is from a 77 chevy 305 V8 that someone got on there somehow. So, now Im tryin to find out what carb I can put on there that will give me the power and speed I am supposed to get on the water. The mounting pattern on the manfold is 2x3.75. Ive heard about running holleys, maybe a 350 or 500CFM? I really have no idea here, thats why Im askin you smart guys here. So, what carbs should I be lookin for here? Thanks, Steve

Re: 3.0 Carb

First of all you shouldn't use a auto carb on a marine engine, I can tell you what I would do is ask one of these guys to give you the link for a engine manual you can down load to your puter and save for your engine. The year and engine ser# will definitly help your situation >>Pat
