Hello,

1997 Volvo SX
3.0
Delco EST

I was wondering if checking/resetting the ignition timing is necessary if replacing a cap and rotor. I have the Clymer manual and the cap for the 3.0 has a squared base so it doesn't appear that it can turn either way to disrupt current timing settings. Does the plate that the cap attaches to have a retaining clamp that is loosened to adjust timing?

Thanks For The Help!

Re: 3.0 Delco EST Cap and Rotor Question

can you verify the exact location of the flats on the rotor in relation to the old one? can you verify the exact location of the cap terminals and the hold down screws between the new and old caps? and a part of the timing check is to insure the module will advance the timing correctly.
your choice
