3.0 engine oil

can someone tell me what oil to use in the 2001 3.0 gm motor , is sae30 good or 25w 40 or what thank you keith

I have a 1995 3.0LX mercruiser, GM engine and have used only 25W50 mercrusier oil in it. I don't think I would use anything lower in viscosity than 25W40.

Stay away from multi-grade, use only 30wt that is what the engineers that designed this engine recommend. Don't let anyone talk you into "snake oil" treatment!!

Merc recommends there 25w50. In higher reving engines weve seen alot of oil loss with it. Id go with 30w.

thanks rod knock and bigd i got some quacker state sae 30 does that sound ok or are we looking for a 25w 30 thanks again keith
