Hello. Got myself in a jam and had the rear of the boat flooded by large waves. Boat ran until i got it back to dock. Now i am trying to start it and all i get is a click. No overheat and no water in oil and not seized. Noticed solenoid above starter got really hot, actually saw some smoke coming from front of starter. Thinking I have to change starter and was wondering if someone could give me some advice and or link to how to remove starter. Starter was submerged. Thank all for any help

Re: 3.0 litre mercruiser starter issue

Mine has two bolts going straight up from underneath, both on the flywheel end. There is also a bracket on the opposite end that has to be removed to decouple it from the engine.

Remember to disconnect the battery first and remove all the wires from the solenoid. Might want to mark them first as well, so you can remember where they go.

Good luck.
