3.0 main bearing caps--Does the "F" stand for "Front" or "Flywheel"?

3.0 main bearing caps--Does the "F" stand for "Front" or "Flywheel"?

I know...kind of a dumb question but they do both start with "F". Do the arrows point toward the front end of the engine, or the rear?

Normally the arrows on the main caps point to the front of the engine.
Which way were they oriented when they came off?
