Your mechanical fuel pump is absolutely rebuildable. $40 should get you a kit from any marine dealership, or simply order online. How do I know this for a fact? I just rebuilt a fuel pump from the same engine. Just search goo-gal and you will find the kits.

I apologize...I was thinking of the "other" mechanical fuel pump (the one on my 5.0)... Similar, but not rebuildable. The manuals I have read indicated that these type pumps are better off replaced.

Can you provide the part number for the rebuild kit? Google aint hackin it.

Post a picture of your pump. I doubt you have a re-buildable pump on a 90 3.0L.

So where did you get the fuel pump rebuild kit? I couldn't find a "marine" kit when I looked awhile back. (not that you need marine diaphragms and springs to rebuild the pump, "marine" is in the housings.)

I googled this up, not sure if it has the same parts, but looks close...

I just dont know if I would chance that purchase, especially when it says "fits only.... (older models on Fords)" I'm still waiting for the part number from Silly Seville to see what models/types it fits and what it comes with.

I found this thread on rebuilding the Carter pumps.... some good info here, but when it comes to fuel pumps, I'll stick with the replacement versus rebuild. (yeah, costs more.....but I do own a "boat"!)

Re: 3.0 Mercruiser fuel pump

thanks for all the info and opinions fellas but, I just decided to buy new. Figure I will be better off that way. I was able to order an Airtex fuel pump through my local parts store, cost was a 100 and some change. Local napa store carries Sierra brand so I got the part number and crossed it with another store.

Wow...that's a great price! Ones I've seen on the net for your motor are upwards of 150 or so. Hope it works out good for you!:D
