I have a 2003 Bayliner with a 3.0 135HP Mercruiser engine. I started having problems with it about a month ago..started idling rough and had lost power. Took it to the shop to have it diagnosed and the mechanic said that he though that the boat had been sunk because after pulling the valve cover the whole inside was rusty and there were several broken valve springs. He also said they did a compression test and that 2 of the cylinders were getting no compression. He ended up pulling the head and cleaning up the engine replacing the parts that were rusted out and i had a bill of $1000. The first time i took the boat out on the water after getting it fixed i had to turn around and come in because i had no oil pressure. I took it back to him as i also noticed that he did not change the oil the first time he had it. I told him what was going on and he changed the oil and replaced the oil pressure gauge silenoid and said it was fixed...well WRONG. Took the boat out again...still getting no oil pressure unless it gets to about 3500 RPM's. Was out for about 20 minutes and then came back in, on the way back in the engine started running really rough and i was barely able to get it in at barely idle speed. I have since taken it back to the shop and they have said that there was alot of water in the oil and that i just need to get a new engine because they would have to break it all the way down to find the leak. Anybody have any ideas/advice on how to handle this??...Thanks
