Re: 3.0 Mercruiser Tach install??
Can anyone tell me briefly how to install a tech on 95 bayliner ???
Find a suitable location on the dash, in good view in a normal driving position. The hole will be 78mm(?) in diameter. Mark the centre of the hole and using a good quality hole saw, cut the hole. Fit the tacho in from the outside and secure with the provided support from under the dash.
The tacho will have 4 terminals on the back. 1 for ignition switched 12 volts, 1 for ground, 1 for tacho signal and one for instrument light.
The switched ignition terminal should be connected to the 'RUN' terminal of the ignition key, the ground should be connected to a good engine ground, the instrument light should be connected in parallel with the light of another instrument (or the switched ignition terminal) and the signal terminal connected to the gray wire in the engine harness. The selector on the back of the instrument should be set to '4 cyl, 4 cycle'.
