3.0 starting problem please help!!!

i have a 1996 3.0 io i was starting it all winter with no problems went to start it one day and nothing just click click i changed the starter,celenoid and battery still click, click i noticed last year that every once in a while after running and trying to restart i would have to figet with the controls to get it to start could ther be a problem like a neutral saftey switch in a car please help me this thing is driving me up the wall. thank-you for any advice

take a voltmeter and see how many volts your getting at the starter. if its not the same as at the battery you probably have a corroded cable. also check you ground wire for cont. and make sure it is securley bolted to both the battery and the place it grounds to. you can also try and direct start it my taking a jumper wire from where the battery cable bolts to the starter and the touching it to the small wire connector on the starter.

The safty switch not let it click if you are getting that much I would say your problem is on down the line.

The person above gave some good tests to see where your problem is.

thank-you for all the great information i have the problem narrowed down to the ground to the slave selenoid and the neutral saftey is there a way around the ground to the slave and is there a way to bypass the neutral saftey on the control?
