I have changed the bellows, gimbal bearing ,water pump hose and shift cable on my 2001 Chaparral sse 180...got thru it and it all works....many thanks to all who replied and posted their insights for me...My temp reading has always been around 180 ...I changed thermostats, impellor, and just put in a new sender...still 180 but new sender responds much more quickly than the old one ...infra red gun readings at the sender read 159 -165 ...what am I missing here?

I would guess that your gauge is off.

Re: 3.0 temperature reading

I was thinking that ...I am one of those people who like to see it right ...even though 180 on the gauge is livable knowing it is out 20 degrees..I just hate seeing it wrong...is there a test to prove it is the gauge or should I just replace it...by the way I did use the test procedure with heating the water and getting the readings @ different temperatures for the sender...it was out a bit...thanks for the input ...probably just get a new gauge ...regards.Bob
