I have a 1989 larson with a 3.0L Alpha One drive on it, and I'm having trouble with the steering. Basically when i turn the steering wheel to the left, the steering wheel goes freely without a lot of effort (feels like it should). However when I steer back to the right, The steering wheel feels noticeably heavier. Now that I'm thinking about it, it almost feels like the power steering is inactive when i turn to the right. When driving straight, the boat feels like its pulling to the left, there is tension on the steering wheel that tries to pull the wheel back towards the left if you were to let it go. The boat is equipped with a power steering system, and I did add fluid to the resevoir (it was low) and it helped a little, but the one way heaviness and pulling is still very noticeable. I am able to move the drive unit from side to side and it doesn't catch or get hung up, it moves pretty freely. I think its something in the power steering mechanism but i'm not sure, anyone have any ideas or had a similar problem?
