3.0L Digital ignition timing help

'90 caravelle 3.0L alpha 1, run-on, I've got a carb kit ordered but how do I correctly check and set the timing on this babe? It's got the digital system and shows 8 deg. BTDC on the carb cover. Do I need to bypass or jump something to get base timing? Does NE1 have the mercruiser service manual 13 for sale or on CD or a link to web page<br />Thanks,
