96 3.0L GS / Penta SX
I am no expert and I've searched a ton on this site already for this issue and have tried all kinds of stuff but still no luck. Never had this problem before. Stored last offseason w/ motor trimmed up (I am assuming this is bad?).
-I can hear the relays clicking and pump whining when I press the trim up/down buttons on the throttle lever.
-I have checked the fuse panel under the dashboard - no blown fuses.
-I have cleaned all the battery contacts.
-I have verified my batteries are both charged and have tried lowering the trim on bat 1, bat 2 and both.
-I have reset the 2 red (relays?) on the engine.
-I have tried to push the red/black button (relay?) on the upper side of the pump itself.
-I have inspected the hydraulic lines inside the boat and under the outdrive - put cardboard down to see if there were any leaks/drips when pushing up/down buttons - none to be seen.
-I dipped the trim pump resevoir through the fill hole w/ a zip tie bent @ 90 deg and the reservoir showed only a little fluid (with the engine all the way up) so I filled it with new fluid up to this fill hole. Looking @ the rams extended, I probably overfilled it... can I run the pump with the red fill plug unscrewed to allow excess fluid to come out if/when I get it working?
-I had a buddy put his weight on the outdrive and 'hop' up and down while pressing the down button but nothing.
Are there pump specific relays on my boat that I could try swapping? (saw this suggested by Don S in another thread) Any other thoughts or ideas? It's currently at the marina (2miles away) but probably won't be looked at for another week so I have time to grab it back and test it in the meantime...
Thanks in advance-
Lamint
