3.0l Mercruiser Year ID Help

I am having trouble ID'ing the year of my newly acquired 3.0l Mercruiser 130hp engine by serial# to determine exactly what I have. The 3.0l and Alpha1 drive came from a single donor late 80's Renken glass boat and obviously mate up nicely together. I have used the stickeys to no avail.

It's an 88.
You must have missed the second item on the list just under the ID and history http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=329915
