I plan on giving up the outboard for an I/O. More than likely it will have the 3.0L GM motor. This motor according to the 135/140 prop HP is extremly inefficant for it's size. I have looked into a 50hp NOS Fogger shot for pulling up skiers. Does anyone know if this appilcation would effect a marine motor. If it was an automotive application I know it would be fine, but is there anything special about a marine application where this would not work?

I ve toyed with the same idea.. But
I have been told that NOS should be used only under full throtle. If thats the case I really would not like to be pulled out of the water at full go and then more go.

I think the water will allow enough slip , and yes you shouldn't apply until after full throttle, or close.

NOS on a marine engine.....sounds interesting. I have a 350 Mag Mercruiser and was wondering how to squeeze a few more ponies out of it. What kind of pre-mature wear would this cause?

NOS in a marine engine? Why? Marine engines are under constant strain and don't last nearly as long as an auto motor. Adding NOS would severly lower the life expectancy of ANY engine, but most certainly on marine motors. Leave it along and enjoy longer life, less expense - as boats cost to much already.

Bigger motor? How much do those cost? I can get a 50 shot with 4 fogger nozzles for that 140hp mercruser for $400or less.

Wear and tear on a marine motor? Nos would be activated about 1% of the motor's life, basically when there is a crowd *within the limits of the boat* and a skier needs to be pulled to plane out quickly. I guess this is just something I will have to try. That 4 banger just seems like a really ineffcient motor. 130 HP for 3 liters *no one metions torque though*. I have a 2 liter that produces 210 at the flywheel and has no problems turning 4-5000 rpms all day. Hmm, wonder about getting that motor in a boat.....

NOS has been used on boats a lot. It adds a lot of HP and it does so RIGHT NOW!! Be prepared to replace your coupler often along with valves and seats. Stay on the button too long and you can count on pistons going away. You may be looking into drive pieces sooner than you'd like to also.

Its fun and quite a rush on a 500 HP big block with a 3 stage kit!

Good luck!
