Taking a look at this boat tomorrow. I've heard that some OMC parts may be hard to find and to stay away from the 2.3l motor. Anything else I should know?

you've pretty much covered it. omc out of business, parts hard to find, mechanics harder. 2.3l had limited production, very limited parts production. biggest issue is exhaust manifold. some companies are making them, but the price will have your bank account begging for mercy. luckily tho, if it is in fact a 3.0l motor, those are very common, easy to work on, parts readily available. it's just the outdrive that may be the issue.

OMC mechanics are very hard to find, they've been out of business for 10+ years, shift cables and adjustments are a huge pain in the butt, and there is a boat just like the one you're about to go look at with a Merc or Volvo drive in it if you just look a little harder.

Stay away from OMC. Don't buy it unless you want to be your own mechanic, fight to find parts, and eventually blow one up when you mis-adjust the shift cable.

Well, parts aren't tough to find for the Cobra, but they are hard to find for 400/800 series drives. Mechanics and local part suppliers, especially smart people who know what part you need are MUCH tougher to come by for any I/O OMC.

Ah well, took a look at it this morning. Pulled the dipstick and... cream in the coffee. :( The search goers on.
