3.0l Volvo Penta I/O specs

I'm looking for a little info on this type of engine. We're looking at possibly purchasing a 1996 Reinell 170, and I wanted to do a compression check (and lower unit lube inspection), but I'm not sure what the specs are on that. If we get the boat, I'll invest in a manual, but until then, if anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />John

Invest the necessary dollers and have an inspection done by a qualified mechanic. It will pay for itself in the long run.

You are absolutely right, and that is what I tried to do. Unfortunately, the shops I contacted locally either wanted hundreds of dollars to perform the inspections, or didn't have the time to fit me in for a week or so. The sellers aren't interested in waiting that long (and I can't blame them) and I trust my over-all mechanical skills to make an informed decision, if I could find the engine specific "specs" to evaluate my findings against.<br /><br />Thank you for your input, though.<br />John
