My 3.5 Nissan is stuck in forward gear and will not go into neutral. There is a rubber plug on the side of the shaft that covers the adjustment clamp. I have tried several adjustments but have been unable to get to neutral. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

I had a similar problem with my 2-stroke 3.5, except it was stuck in N.

It was fixed by replacing the shift lever. The lever looked fine when removed, however the new lever solved the problem. YMMV.

When you operate the shift lever, can you see the shift coupler move? If so, you should be able to adjust the coupler correctly. If the coupler does not move, the shift handle has probably become stripped where the handle is cast onto the shaft.
