I have a 83 OMC 3.8 V6. I bought a 4.3 long block, but my exhaust manifolds don't fit. I would like to know if I bought new manifolds for a 4.3 if everything would match up? Or would it be the best to have my 3.8 heads rebuilt?
Just found this forum, and it is my first post so if any more info is needed let me know.
Thanks,
Dman

Manifolds are just the beginning of your problems!! Lots cheaper to fix the 3.8

I assume the 3.8L is a ford, and the 4.3 is a GM, too different motors! Its not like the difference between a 289 and a 302 where its the same long block.

Both motors are GM. They are the same block, I was told by the marine parts store that I bought the 4.3 that everything would bolt up on a short block. They didnt have a short block so they gave me a long block for the same price. The decision is to replace the exhaust manifolds or have the 3.8 heads rebuilt.
The question is does anyone know if the 4.3 manifolds will match the exhaust tubes that go to the out drive.
