3.8 to 4.3

Can I upgrade my '83 3.8 229 V6 to a newer (90 or later) 4.3 V6 and still use the same outdrive? Or would I be better off just replacing with a rebuilt 229? Thanks for the help!

The Outdrive Won't Care.......<br />But, You'll find All the Bolt Holes have Moved............ <br />Those are 2 Very Different Motors.......
