I am in the process of building a boat and I have been using a deep cycle 12v to test the electrical system. I cannot afford the starting batteries just yet, so I only have 1 battery that needs to be charged.

I got a 3 bank ProMariner charger off ebay, it was such a deal I just couldn't pass up. I would like to charge the one battery but I don't know how to go about it. I found the manual online and there is a primary charge wire and 2 secondary wires. Will I hurt anything if I hook the primary to the battery and just cap off the other wires for now, or should I hook all the wires to the 1 battery?

Well check this out. I bought a Pro Mariner 20 -3 bank charger about 3 -4 years ago and last month it fried. I called Pro Mariner and told them about it. I figured that there was no warrenty left but I wanted to see if they could fix it.(paid 199.99) They said sence I had one all ready that they would sell me a NEW one for $120.00 . Usefull info!

ps they had know record of the purchase so I guess they just take your word for it?

Most of these have one transformer, primary rectification and voltage regulation followed by two or three outputs via secondary diodes. Not a huge deal, but the voltage regulators figure on the voltage drop across one diode per battery. I would suggest connecting one lead to your one battery and taping off the others. Again not a huge deal if you tie them all on the one battery.
