3 blade cleaver on wellcraft?

Thinking about going to a 3 blade cleaver on my wellcraft eclipse, 5.7 v8. Any input? Looking for more top end. Running 4500 rpm with round ear 21p aluminum. Should i go 19p cleaver?

Cleaver style props are popular with the 'go fast' outboard people. They are designed to run right at the water surface. I wouldn't use one on your boat.

I'd look at the Mercury Mirage Plus props. They are one of the fastest props around. Bblades.com has a testing program, so you can find the right pitch before you buy. And they also can lab it for your top end needs. Its expensive, but there is nothing like a custom lab job!

Will the mirage fit on an alpha1 outdrive? Found one on eBay. It is part #48-3700.... is this the right prop?

What speed are you running now?

My favorite saying in the boating world,"If you want a faster boat, buy a faster boat".

As stated a cleaver is not what you want. It may even slow you down. And if you do get it working correctly you may over heat as the drive will be way out of the water.
Lighten up the boat, Thats about your best bet for more speed.

Im running about 43mph with 2 people and a dog...half tank of gas. I need a new prop anyways so I'd like to get something that will provide best speed. I want to get my rpms to about 4800. I think going to a 19p will help along with a good stainless prop I think I can get alittle more out of my boat?

Michigan Wheel Vortex is a good one also.

I wonder about your motor. My boat goes 40 with 6 people in it.
Have you checked out your engine to see if its running up to par?

Yep... A Mirage Plus will fit (you don't want the standard Mirage). You'll need to get a hub kit for the prop. I'm not sure about the part #, whats the item number of the eBay auction?

Motor runs great... Is your boat 22' with a cuddy cabin? I want to stick with 3 blade for less drag in the water...I will eventually have 2 props. One for tubing and skiing the other for top speed. The mirage on eBay was sold. I'll have to keep looking to try to find the one that fits my boat. 22' wellcraft eclipse 5.7 v8 mercruiser... Alpha one drive.

Its close to 22'... about 21.5' and its got a decent sized cuddy. I run a M+ on it. I had a 180 Baja Islander with a V6 and ran a M+ on it too. They are excellent top end props!

I think that the beat up aluminum 21 p prop I'm running doesn't help my speed at all. Hopefully I can find a mirage plus seeing as everyone I talk to has good things to say about them. I have to find one for my boat first and at the right price. I called a dealer and he said to go to the prop chart on mercury marine but it's not easy on my iPhone. Just don't want to order the wrong prop. Is your speed on gps?

I've GPSed both boats... the wish-o-meters are not even close to accurate!

Looks like the sale is over, but nobody placed a bid. Contact the buyer and offer them $100.... it doesn't look like a bad wheel.

Tried a cleaver the other day, overall I liked it. Got better wholeshot midrange and top end. Added 4 mph on gps. Only draw back 21p is alittle much was only running around 4100 rpm at WOT. Gonna try a 19 mirage my local prop shop has. Not sure if it's a plus. What is the difference?

The M+ has cupped edges and the blades seemed more curved. The regular M's are kind of straight and have hardly any cupping.
