I know these questions are asked ALL THE time. Most of us ask because we don't have the money or experience and we don't want to make a mistake.

So here goes -- 1990 Johnson 40 hp pushing a 20' Lowe pontoon with 4 people. I tore up my last prop at LOW speed and just doesn't push the boat like it used to. When it was in good shape I was running 5300 rpm at WOT and GPS at 13 mph. The old prop was a Michigan PJ58 which is a 13 x 11 if my research is correct, that's now discontinued.

So here are the 2 choices I've come up with

A 3 blade MATCH-011034 (michigan blade similar to one I tore up)

They say reduce the pitch when going to a 4 blade but I don't know how much?
A 4 blade VORTEX-992403 12 x 10 (or should I do an 8 pitch)

So which one to pick?? I would like to pull a few more mph out of it. THAnKS
