In comparision between a 3 or 4, what's the pros and cons. I have a 26 4 blade Trophy plus on a 19'1'' Blazer Bass Boat (200 EFI, 12" setback). What would I need in a 3 to meet the same specs. Does a 3 have the same bow lift as a 4? Thanks in advance

Re: 3 vs 4 blade

Blazer, if the blade rake and props are the same size the 4 blade will always have more lift, because the 4 blade has more surface area and thus will have more power to hold the bow up. You would have to know the exact rake for each prop and then compute the differences in blade surface areas and then compare the theoretical holding power for each one in order to compare them. The formula for this is pretty extensive.

You answered my questions, thank you. I was mainly concerned with bow lift. I know Blazers like to ride high so it sounds like I'll be staying with a 4 blade. I have a Trophy Plus 4 blade just looking for a 28 pitch to replace the 26. Thanks again.

Re: 3 vs 4 blade

You are very welcome and there is nothing wrong with 3 blade props and you can add cup on the blade tip to increase the amount of rake in a prop, which helps with bow lifting, but the more surface area there is available the more holding power there is to hold the bow up. That is why 4 blades will do a better job with the same amount of rake.
