$300 Should I feel Guilty? Edit SOLD it today for $950 :-)

Anyone that knows me locally knows that I'm a CL junkie. If I dont buy something atleast once a week I start to get anxious. Anyways Friday rolled around and a boat i was gonna look at sold before I got the chance. I pulled up craigs on my phone and started doing what I do best aka low balling people with items for sale. Called about all sorts of toys from Jeeps to guns. I finally got ahold of a guy needing $ bad enough to work a deal. His asking price was $1000 I offered $250 and we agreed on $300. Its a 1974 Del Magic but I though I head they are Glasstrons? Anyone know? It has a 85hp Mercury, new battery, tires, 2 Neopreme pfd's, anchor, spare tank etc. Pretty much the whole kit. I had some issues getting it to start but turns out it was just a bad valve. Runs like a little champ now. I took it out today and it maxed out at about 30mph and 4,000rpm at WOT. Seems low but maybe it just needs broken in from sitting for a year or two. The hull is in very good shape. No cracking scrapes, gouges etc. All gauges, lights, horns etc work fine. The interior needs some work but is 100% functional. Not bad for $300 I almost feel guilty for low balling but he could of always said no.

Sure looks like a Glastron. I wold think that if your tach is accurate that you are running a bit on the low end. I'd give the motor a physical and go from there... Nice deal!!

You stole that! Nice deal. Sounds like a healthy motor with probably just some dirt in the carbs. Start with cleaning them and then maybe try changing props to get closer to your target WOT range.

HAte to dissapoint you but thats just a $400 boat that was way over priced.

I think its worth more than $400 in normal times but these days I could buy those all day long around here.
The only way I'd want it is for the engine and trailer.

Unless the PO has already done the transom and stringers, then its a different story. I'd rather have a restored older boat than the newer ones.

Wow, that's a $1500 boat at least around here. I'd buy it just to use for the next few months for $300.

Good find. You won't be out anything if it ends up rotted. Scrap that baby out for a lot more than $300. Just goes to show ya, the deals are there to be had.

I wouldn't feel guity cause I just bought a 15' Cajun Bass Boat with a 115 Rude and the trailer for $500, the guy wanted $1350. Git it while you can!!!

Well the deal wasnt as sweet as I thought it was. Took it back out today and all was well untill I got it on the trailer. Bringing it in i noticed the rear tire was getting a little rough. Pulled it off and turns out it needed a new hub. I now have about $350 including a new hub and some sea foam little guy just fires right up and runs great. The interior needs new vinyl but that's what girl friends are for (pray she doesn't see this) Seriously though anything around here for under $1,500 is usually one of those that claim it just needs new plugs or wires or???
