This is my first pot here...great forum.

Anyways I have an 70 something silverline tri hull project boat...big and ugly for now... Anyways what i want to do is swap out the 302 with a 351 small block out of a 94 f-150 with fuel injecting and what not... I know they have the same bell housing and motor mounts... should be a fairly straight forward swap and make it an interestingly quik tri-hull lol... what are everybodys thoughts on this??

You CANNOT use ANY of the F-150 fuel injection as it is NOT Coast Guard approved.

The list of why this won't work is long and wider than that... Beyond the Coast Guard regs how about:

Designed to be ran with catalytic converters, calibration on these engines are notoriously lean... Detonation city in a boat (and in most trucks when towing on a hot day)..

Calibrated to run with an engine temperature above 200 deg F

The ECU on a 1994 will want to know what gear your transmission is in

You would need to defeat the EGR valve and DPFE sensor which would make the ECU all sorts of p/oed...

I could keep going but will stop with that...

You could go to an aftermarket speed density stand alone EFI setup, but the cost of the ECU, sensors, fuel pump and harness would likely top $2000.00

Easiest route would be aftermarket carb and intake, forget fuel injection, I personally like 302, it's a great little motor.

its a merc 888 outdrive.... this is not my "daily driver" I have a Javelin 409 dc bass boat with a 225 venom on it for that... I just thought I'd throw the idea out there... Maybe i'll just do a cam, 4bbl and intake swap with with a good ign system.. who knows...
