4160 Holly Stock Manifold Ford 302 Seems when I start my new engine I have to have the throttle up a little or it will stall when it's warming up. The idle is set right and the elec heat choke is working. I am thinking the solution might be to rotate the choke thing (round black cup) while the engine is cold clockwise to close it more. When its cold, the butterfly has about an 1/8 th inch opening. Once warmed up it's fine.

Your on the right track with the choke being to rich, the Fords are very cold blooded in a boat so the chokes are usally rich

plus boats dont have a fast idle cam like a car, they do however have a fast idle lever also called a throttle. start tthe engine at 1100-1400 RPM and keep it there until the choake unloads. most folks dont rememeber back to the days of a fast idle cam on an automobile.

I can still see all 4 steps cut into the cam. Each lasted about 15 to 30 seconds. :p
