305 2brl to 350 4brl swap

I'm replacing a 305 2 brl in a 1985 Chris Craft scorpion 186 with a 80-86 350 that I'm having rebuilt. It will have vortec heads, comp cam XM262H camshaft. looking at putting a edelbrock rpm air gap 7516 intake and either a edelbrock 1409/10 or a Holley 4150 carb on it. my question is what can I use for the throttle cable bracket, I have one from a mercruiser 230hp quadrajet 4brl or are there aftermarkets avaliable. I saw a nice chrome one bolted to a 1409/10 on a 5.7 on ebay that looks like it would work but have been unable to find it either on the edelbrock or holley website. My hopes is to reuse most of the 305 stuff my understanding is that as long as I stay with the right vintage I will be able to just swap the stuff from one engine to the next. I plan on using the existing alpha 1 outdrive, I believe I have a 1.81 ratio and currently running a 21 pitch prop which i may have to change. any suggestions would be great and appreciated

Go to Summit Racing website. Look for Holley part number 717-7.

I have a stock mercruiser bracket (805359T) that works on Q-jet or Weber/Edelbrock carbs (it might work with Holley as well). It is the latter version that looks like it is made from sheet metal and has four mounting holes. If memory serves, the reset circuit breaker is mounted to this as well. Might be different on your older motor, but you would want to know if you need to fabricate something before buying a generic bracket. I got mine off ebay at less then 1/2 the list price, which I believe was $40.

You can't use stock springs. You have to get the beehive(or similar) type.

thanks for the info about the holley bracket, missed that in the summit catalog did find a nice chrome bracket that bolts between the carb and the intake at marineengineparts.com, I realize that the springs would have to be changed, was looking at screw in studs for awhile but since the cam profile is not that radical will stay with the press in factory studs.
