305 swap questions

I have a 1980 silverline with a omc230 in it attached to a omc 800, questions is what other year 305's would bolt up to it? my is done the guy I purchased it from winterized it himself because he is a mechanic but the block froze and cracked so I need to replace the motor and I am curious what other ones would bolt up to it? or other motors all toghether

any of the 2 piece rear main seal SBC's should work for a doner.
I dont know when they went to a one piece seal (Ford Guy) but they are different.
Someone will put up a list of exact years.

Ayuh,... Your motor falls into the 1979 to 1986 vintage,...
Prior to 79 will work pretty easily,.. That was the year the Dipstick swapped sides,...
1987 or later are the 1pc. rear main seal motors,+ I don't think it can be Adapted to a Stringer...

Speaking of Stringers,... You do realize they're the Least loved drive on the planet,.. Right,..??
Especially the Electric shift models....

Thanks for the heads up guy :) And it seems the stringers are love them or hate them lol, I hear they brake all the time then I hear they are the strongest out there lol

A 350 would be a better option for 30 more HP. A GM crate 290HP350 would be a logical candidate.
