Have a 30hp Evinrude that sat for 10yrs, set it up in garbage can cranked right up with nice strong stream coming from the telltale.
Thought it would be good decision to replace water pump so got rebuild kit re-assembled sat in garbage can cranked up now no water out of exhaust or telltale, took apart everything looked OK, reassembled same = no water !!???
Water was at same level in garbage can as before so I assumed should pick up water ...I would not have thought should I should have to submerge waterpump completely as it worked before @ this water level .Old impeller was in good shape so no debris would have got in system. Any Ideas ???
Also the lower end of the water tube had a small pin hole in it bellow the grommet surface @ first I figured it had eroded then I noticed a very small pin hole in the waterpump housing where the water tube inserts. Should this hole be crossdrilled in the tube as like an air bleed ???
Thank you in advance,
NED
