35 evenrude not enough power

i bought a 35 evenrude and i it dosent seem to have the power i expected .how can i determine weather or not im correct.i looked at the top of pistons and they are a bit grey.would this be a clue to low power?

We need a lot more info to be able to help you, Richard.<br /><br />Tell us the model number of your engine, what boat you have it on, what evidence you are reading as "not enough power" and what prop you have on it.<br /><br />Let us know.
