Hey boaters,

1986 Force 35 H.P. 2 cyl. Got it couple weeks ago.

This motor got me really frustrated already. It takes 10-15 cranks to start and some times it backfires before turning on. Once it starts has to be at high or middle RPM?s to keep it running on neutral, if try to idle it shuts down. Gone thru two sets of new plugs because they fouled.

Some times I?m able to bring it low enough for a few seconds to put it in forward and reverse on a test tank, with out the prop, and give it some gas and runs great.

Took it to the lake to test it on open water hoping it will do fine on forward gear high speed, but at soon as it goes in to gear it kicks and shuts down, with the propeller. Won?t even push me an inch... This motor is on a 16 ft. fiber glass. Before, it had a 20 hp mercury 2 cyl. On the same boat and did just fine pushing it.

Symptoms;
Shuts down at idle
Fouled plugs
Weak spark at low rpm, on both cyl. Before dying. Or when testing for spark.
Dies if put in forward or reverse with load.

Troubleshoot;
110 psi. on both cyl.
Cleaned carbon from pistons.
Strong spark at mid and high idle
B6HS plugs with .040? 1mm gap
Cleaned & rebuild carb.
Adjusted mixture needle and jets closed tight.
Adjusted choke.
New check valves, diaphragm and gasket, on fuel pump.
Cleaned fuel filter
Checked for air leaks.
New fuel lines, from tank to filter ? pump to carb. Prime bulb replaced.
85 grade fresh fuel with (Seafoam) additive and without.
50-1 fuel mixture.
12.6 V. on battery.

Suggestions?

Thanks!
