ive got an 84 35hp, it was given to me with the gearcase in pieces. originally stripped the gears, but came with new ones. looking at parts diagrams, it says there are two bearings around the pinion gear(pn 0376856), but this gear case only has one. it appears there is room for two, so i wonder if one has been removed? also there is one bearing at the top of the gearcase just under the waterpump, whats the proper way to remove these? do they both come out from the top with a puller, or can they be punched down and pull the new ones in? thanks.

Do you have an OEM factory service manual ?? If not, one would really help.
