35 hp Johnson Sea Horse

Can someone tell me what year this model is? The serial number is 1985802 and it is an electric start 35 hp. If it helps, it is on a 1960 Starcraft "Bonanza Deluxe"<br /> My problem is that the wiring harness from motor to console is shot and I need a new/newer one....<br /> Any help out there would be appreciated...<br /> Sam Glenn<br /> at stevien@hotmail.com

LilSam.... There should be a "Model" number on the same plate/area where you got that serial number. We need the model number to determine the year.

Wiring harnesses for for engine appear on eBay from time to time. Of course, how much better they are than yours is the question.<br /><br />You can easily make your own homemade wiring. The correct diagram is in the Clymer Repair Manual for 1956-72 Johnson/Evinrude Engines, which has a link at the bottom of this page.

Lilsam,<br />I have a couple of those harnesses in good shape with the junction box. junction boxes are blasted and repainted. Also have a new starter solenoid installed. I also have one where I had to replace a couple wires and put new tubing over the harness.
