have a 35 hp long shaft force '88. Picked up a 50 hp short shaft '89 for $200. it seemed like a decent deal. Though my transom is 20". I don't really want to buy a jack plate for $500. The motors themselves seem to be very similar the props/ lower unit gear case size/ motor cover. Obviously the engine is larger inside of the 50hp. I'm thinking I could pull the 50hp off of the ss and place it on the ls body... Is anyone familiar with these motors? Is there something else I should consider? My throttle and ignition are built into the boat (aluminum bass style boat) and I don't really want to remove them. I did receive a mountable throttle assemble with the 50 hp though. Havent checked it out for compression but the previous owner said there was spark and the flywheel on top turns. Should i invest in a jackplate or attempt to swap engines? Any Ideas? Much appreciated! Max speed currently 16mph with one person... 12mph with two people... Looking for a little more get up and go.

Figured that might be a good idea. The thottle cables are disconnected and some of the wiring as well. It's gonna take:redface some tinkering to get it tested first. Might take me some time. Be back in a little while. Going to build a stand for it right now to work on it. I'll take closer looks at the two also to see if the bolt paterns look the same. Thanks
