I have a 35 HP Viking, I beleive it is mid 60's. The motor seems to run well in neutral however when I put it in gear it is very sluggish and then cuts out. It seems like the flywheel on top gets tight when this happens and I have to manually move it to get the electric start to work. Any ideas on what could be happening?

Re: 35 HP Viking

Sure, it is siezing up for some reason. The list of possibilities are almost endless. But for a starting point, make sure the lower unit is full of oil and it is not overheating.

You DO have oil in the gas....don't you?

Running it and allowing it to sieze will only make it worse, and very quickly.
